Tents for Camping
This website will provide you with
deals and reviews on all types of tents for camping. Whether
you are a single person or a family of four - you'll find
manufacturers and bargains on good quality
tents.
When shopping for the right tent,
think of what you're going to be using it for. Of course you'll
want one big enough to hold the number of people in your party.
But you want to keep in mind how much storage space you'll
need. Some tents have built in pockets and storage bins. Also
keep in mind what weather conditions you might face. A 3 season
tent will keep you comfortable and protected during the spring,
summer and fall - but not in the winter. If you're planning to
camp in freezing and/or snowy conditions, you'll be better off
choosing a heavy duty 4 season tent.
You'll also want to consider ease of
use. It's a good idea to choose a tent that is easy to
transport - in your backpack, canoe, etc. And, believe me; you
want a tent that is easy to assemble. In ideal weather and
conditions it might not be an issue. But in pouring rain or at
night, it's a major issue. Ask yourself if you would be able to
pitch this tent in driving rain or at night. Be sure to
assemble and disassemble your tent at home first - don't wait
until you're on your trip to do it for the first time. It's
much easier to iron out problems at home than it is in the
wilderness.
Cost shouldn't be your only concern
when purchasing tents - get the best possible tent that you can
afford. Your comfort, safety and security are at stake. Go with
a good quality, name brand tent that will keep you safe from
the elements.
Here are some of the top rated tents
for camping. The prices listed may vary up or down a little,
depending on the time of year and what area you live
in.
Jeep 7x7 4-Person Sport Dome
Tent - This tent is 54 inches tall and features an
easy to set up clip and go frame. It has ventilation in all
four corners to prevent condensation and is built tough to keep
you nice and dry during rainstorms. There are many storage
spaces within the tent and it only weighs 11 pounds. Reviewers
found it to be easy to set up and put away, but it might not be
quite big enough to handle 4 people. Maybe 3 grown-ups and a
child.
Price - $54
Columbia Cougar Flats II 8
person tent - This large 15 foot x 10 foot family
cabin dome tent will sleep 8 people. It has 2 rooms and a
cyclone ventilation system to provide good air circulation -
which is so important on those hot muggy summer nights. You can
watch the rain and storms with the waterproof bay window and
not have to worry about getting wet or having to deal with damp
conditions with the GoBe dry system. It features an abundance
of storage space and even cup holders for convenience. It
weighs 54 pounds and can be easily packed into the included
wheeled bag. Most reviewers find it even roomier than described
- plenty big enough for air mattresses. Some had problems with
the poles breaking - but it seems to be a bad batch of poles
manufactured. And they were promptly sent replacement
poles.
Price - $260
Eureka Apex 2XT Adventure 2
person tent - This 7 foot by 5 foot tent will hold 2
people comfortably. It is an excellent backpacker tent as it
weighs under 6 pounds. The floor will prevent moisture with its
bathtub style seams and is plenty roomy for two people at 7'5"
x 4'11". It only has 2 poles, so it's super simple to put up
and take down. One entire wall provides a ton of ventilation
and windows to keep you nice and comfortable on a hot summer's
night. The other wall acts as a spacious storage vestibule.
This is a 3 season tent, so it's an excellent choice for all
but the coldest of conditions. Some reviewers found the zippers
were too far from the door and that the weight was a little
heavy for their backpack.
Price - $90
Kelty Grand Mesa 2-Person
Tent - This 3 season dome-style tent will keep you
comfortable and protected from the elements in the spring,
summer, and fall. The bathtub style floor will help keep
wetness from penetrating and the large mesh windows will allow
plenty of ventilation - so important on hot muggy days and
nights. The 6 square foot vestibule provides ample storage and
at only 4 pounds, 2 ounces - you'll hardly know it's in your
backpack. Reviewers mentioned that it's extremely easy to put
up and take down, but some did say that it's a bit cramped for
two grown up people.
